7 PAIRS OF JEANS IN MY CURRENT ROTATION

TOP // JEANS // BAG // SUNGLASSES

When it comes to essentials, nothing tops the list quite like a great pair of jeans. It’s the ultimate workhorse of any wardrobe which means attention must be paid. Am I right? Let’s dive in.

This spring’s lineup looks a lot like the last with an emphasis on classic, straight-leg styles that are neither too skinny or too wide, but just right. There’s lots of great pairs out there that fit this bill (and I’ve probably tried half of them!) but there are a handful (namely this pair)  that just hit the spot for me more than others. And while I’m certain I could live in straight-leg jeans forever and ever (and ever), why would I when there’s a world of denim out there to try?  With that in mind, I’m experimenting with more relaxed fits (obsessed with these) while I’ll also tip-toeing my way into the wide-leg pool. (Regarding the latter, the key for me here is where they sit on my waist. It’s high-rise or nothing for me. Read: low-rise + wide-leg just ends up looking sloppy on me.) Of course, the biggest change in my lineup over the next month or two will be the influx of white denim. In addition to my oldies-but-goodies, I’ve also added in some newness in the form of this La Ligne style (a perfect shade of not-quite-white for the seasonal transition) and this pair, which is more relaxed than I’ve gone in seasons past.

Below, a denim cheat sheet for you with all the scoop on my current favorites.

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY AYLA JEANS

These are a departure from my normally much more tailored denim styles. What I love about them is that they’re oversized without looking too “messy.” Worn with a t-shirt or a button-down shirt, they still make me feel pulled-together. Hot tip: size down!

REFORMATION CYNTHIA JEANS

These Reformation jeans check every box for me when it comes to denim: high-waisted, straight-leg, no stretch, and the ideal length for wearing with ballet flats or a pair of heels. What really levels these jeans up for me though is the “Colorado” wash. It’s my idea of the perfect blue – a timeless shade that can easily be dressed up or down.  Hot tip: these jeans have zero stretch so if you are in between sizes, go up.

7 FOR AL MANKING ULTRA HIGH-RISE JEANS

I tried these on the other day and was reminded how much I love them. Despite the fact that they’re stretchy and I don’t normally love a lot of stretch (especially in white denim), I still find these jeans to be some of the most flattering out there. I wore these out last summer which is why I promptly bought not one, but two new pairs.

SHOP

AGOLDE REN JEANS

There’s never a time when there’s not at least (!) one pair of Agolde jeans in my rotation. Right now, that pair is the brand’s “Ren” jeans. They have a slim wide leg (too wide is too much for me) while still being fitted in all the right places. They’re a great daytime pair of jeans.

SHOP

LA LIGNE MEREDITH JEANS

The newest addition to my lineup! If you’re not quite ready to dive head first into your brightest whites just yet, allow these to be your happy medium. They’re the perfect shade of cream for the transition from winter to spring. Most importantly, though, the fit is A+.

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY GAUCHO JEANS

These are one of my most-worn pairs of jeans. With a perfect lived-in blue wash, these jeans are cut with a wide-ish leg that hits at just the right spot on my ankle. I balance the leg volume out by wearing a more fitted silhouette (a white tee or lately, this cashmere sweater) on top. Hot tip: Though they are meant to have a relaxed fit, I still think they run a little big. Go down a size if you aren’t sure.

SHOP

B SIDES LOUIS JEANS

With a super high-rise (love that), these jeans are relaxed but not so much that I can’t dress them up. They’re a go-to for day or night.
