When it comes to gift shopping, the toughest ones to shop for are usually the men. Be it your husband, your dad, or co-worker, finding the right gift for men is never an easy task. Even after 10.5 years of marriage and many (many!) gifts for my husband later, I still have to put on my thinking cap for him. 

As you know, gift shopping is a year-round sport for me which means I’ve had lots of time to pursue and ponder. A few quick ideas: if he’s a clotheshorse (or, actually, even if he’s not), opt for elevated essentials. Refresh his basics – think: a great cashmere sweater, a new fleece (Amazon score!), or something like this great quilted vest. On that same note, shoes. Most men will wear the same pair of shoes until they literally. fall. apart. (Am I right?) So, a new pair of classic loafers might be in order – or if sneakers are what he needs then a new pair of On’s should do it. (I just bought these for my husband and he loves them.) 

Looking for gifts that pertain to his hobbies? If game-playing is his forté, gift him with a luxe (and portable!) backgammon set. For the guy who loves to cook, consider upgrading his kitchen essentials, like a new set of knives. (If mixology is more his thing, he might love this smoker gadget.) Outdoorsman? This field jacket puts a stylish spin on practicality.
