MY FAVORITE SUMMER TOPS

While the majority of my summer wardrobe consists of dresses (current rotation includes this one, this one, and this one), I do like to mix it up every now and then with separates. After all, some of my most favorite warm-weather pieces are swingy midi skirts, linen pants, and, of course, white denim (loving this pair right now). The key component to all of the above? The perfect top.

There are several things I look for when it comes to my summer top selections. Fabric is first. Nothing heavy. I stick with cotton (this $100 eyelet button-down is a great choice), gauzy voile,  and crisp linen because all are lightweight and breathe easy, even on the hottest summer day. Next, I focus on shape. I opt for oversized silhouettes with voluminous details like puffed shoulders or balloon sleeves. In the alternative, a fitted cotton tank (the best one) is always on cue. Finally, I’m all about the prints. Stripes, florals, geometrics – I love them all. I have a special affinity for block prints this time of year. I have some good ones lined up for the season, too, including this Mille button-down (note: it is oversized / I wear the XXS) which checks all of the right boxes.
