I’ve always found fall and winter more difficult for me in terms of getting dresses. I’m a warm-weather girl at heart and love the ease of summer’s one-and-done dresses. This time of year requires more layers, more thinking, more time. The only way to make this easier? Having a uniform.

The details (color choices, different accessories) might change but otherwise my day-to-day uniform this time of year looks something like this: a great blazer (Blazé Milano makes my favorite ones), a t-shirt or lightweight sweater (I live in J.Crew’s cashmere tees), a pair of straight-leg jeans, and a pair of flats, either a sneaker or a ballet flat. It’s a formula I can follow and when I’m short on time (read: always), I can just grab and go. The key is to have a range of great basics that are top-notch quality (they’re workhorses, after all), timeless, and, most of all, versatile.
