STARS OF THE TABLE

CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT: TWISTY TAPERS DESSERT PLATEBANDANASCOASTERSPLACEMAT • DINNER PLATE

A great outfit gets all the attention, but I’d argue the table deserves just as much consideration. After all, it’s where everyone inevitably gathers – whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, a poolside lunch, or an elegant dinner under the stars.

The good news? The Fourth of July does a lot of the heavy lifting. Think blue-and-white dinnerware, woven rattan, striped textiles, and strategic pops of red and blue via fresh summer produce and flowers, respectively. The combination feels classic every time.

My approach is to build the table around pieces I’d use all summer long, then incorporate a few holiday-specific accents. Colorful glassware, striped linens, statement-making serving pieces, and a handful of festive details are often all it takes to make the table feel special.

Below, a lineup of festive favorites – from entertaining essentials to finishing touches –  to set a stylish and celebratory scene.

CABANA BLOSSOM DESSERT PLATE RED

If there’s one piece that can carry an entire Fourth of July table, it’s a great plate. The combination of bold red and blue florals feels festive without being overly patriotic, making it just as appropriate for a summer lunch in August as it is for a holiday gathering. The kind of tabletop find that does all the heavy lifting for you.

CAMBRIDGE SILVERWARE SET

A perennial entertaining favorite for good reason. Bamboo handles bring texture and a relaxed, summer-house feel to the table while still looking polished.

SOLINO HOME LINEN NAPKINS SET OF 4

Stripes are one of my favorite ways to nod to the holiday without resorting to anything overtly patriotic. These feel festive, fresh, and surprisingly versatile.

RED WICKER TABLE LAMP SHADE

Nothing elevates an outdoor table faster than lighting. This woven lamp adds a punch of color and makes everything feel instantly more intentional once the sun starts to set.

MONTAUK STRIPE OUTDOOR GOBLETS

A holiday table can quickly become visually busy, which is why I love the simplicity of these striped goblets. They’re festive, timeless, and the kind of piece you’ll reach for long after the Fourth.

WOVEN PLACEMATS

This Amazon (!) find is such a goodie! They add texture and festivity to the table while serving as the perfect backdrop for everything layered on top.

RED AND BLUE AMERICANA EMBROIDED COCKTAIL NAPKINS

I’m a firm believer that cocktail napkins are where you can and should have some fun. These add personality to a bar cart or drinks station and make an easy conversation piece for guests.

PORTOFINO BLUE STRIPE CERAMIC DIPPING BOWL

Ice cream is practically mandatory on the Fourth of July, which makes great bowls a worthwhile investment. The hand-painted blue stripe is classic, and they’ll be just as charming filled with berries or cobbler as they will be with a scoop (or two) of vanilla.
