MY FAVORITE LIPSTICK SHADES

While I’m normally a gloss-and-go girl (this one in #11 to be specific), whenever fall rolls around, I’m instantly in the mood for lipstick. There’s something about a creamy lipstick that feels so right, right now.

Most days, I opt for a pinky-nude. My forever favorite is Sisley’s Lip Twist in #11 Litchi. It’s a perfect neutral for me. Another go-to used to be Tom Ford’s “Blush Nude,” but since I can’t seem to find it anywhere these days (has it been discontinued?), I have switched to Ford’s “Spanish Pink.” (It’s slightly pinker than my former favorite but a very close second.) I also love “Barbarella” from NARS. It has a peach base but goes on more sheer than it appears in the tube.

When I want a little some more but not like more-more, I love Chanatecaille’s lipstick in “Camelia.” It’s slightly shiny and delivers just the right amount of color. It’s a good step up from a neutral. A close second would be “Edith” from Chanel. I used my last tube up last year and haven’t replaced it yet but it’s a good one.

Now, when I’m in the mood for a red lip, I alternate between three favorites. First and foremost: “Heat Wave” from NARS. I love a good orange-red and this one is truly the best. (Bonus: I love that it’s available on Amazon.) Next up: Chanel’s Rouge Allure lipstick in “Coromandel.” This one is a bright, straight-forward red. It’s a great holiday red. Finally, when I’m going for a matte look (which, I’ll admit, is very rare), “Goldie” from Gucci is the one I like. It’s a true red, a shade that I really think would look good on anyone.

One quick thing I must mention is this lip primer from Heir Atelier. I discovered it earlier this year and now swear by it. I apply it before my lipstick to prevent feathering and fading. It is essential for nights when I’m wearing red lipstick.

So, now, tell me: what are your favorite shades? What should I try?
