MY FAVORITE CASHMERE SWEATERS

KHAITE Sweater // AGOLDE Jeans

After spending so much time over the last couple of months bundled up in thick knitwear, you’ve no doubt landed on a select few as your tip-top favorites. No matter how many sweaters you have in your closet, there’s always a handful that are slightly more loved (ergo get more wear) than others. This season, the sweaters that have emerged as my own top contenders include this one, this one (I have it in multiple colors), and this one, which happens to be 60% off today. While they all vary in style, they have one thing in common: quality. The best sweaters are the ones that are well-made – read: extra cozy, not scratchy, and don’t pill after only a couple of wears. More often than not, these are usually the cashmere ones. The luxurious material offers an extra cozy quality that can’t be found elsewhere and, if taken care of properly, can last for years and years.

Slipping into a super soft cashmere sweater (this one) can feel like a downright treat in the dead of winter. (The same goes for summer, too. A light cashmere sweater like this one is perfect for a chilly Nantucket night in the middle of June.) While there are certainly a number of options that are worth the investment, it’s important to note that price isn’t always an indication of quality here. It’s absolutely possible to find great cashmere sweaters that don’t break the bank. For example, I love J.Crew’s “Everyday” cashmere sweater. I’ve been buying them for years. They’re lightweight, easy to layer, and the ring in at under $100! I’ve also found some great options like this striped one at Mango along with some excellent steals over on The Outnet. Tip: be sure to keep an eye on the sales. I’ve come across a number of great cashmere knits (see: here, here, and here) that have been marked down. I also just discovered Nadaam, after reading about the line in last week’s New York Times. The brand focuses on ethically-sourced, quality cashmere at prices that fall below $200. Adding this one to my cart now!
