WINTER NEUTRALS
With wind chills below 20 degrees, it’s safe to say that Texas is experiencing a true taste of winter right now. These quick hits of cold weather never stick around for long though, so I’m taking advantage of it while I can – namely in the form of my wardrobe. I’m pulling out all of my winter favorites (see: this and these!) and getting my wears in before the heat returns and this winter burst is all but a distant memory.
When it comes to aforementioned cold-weather favorites, I love a slightly toastier spin on winter white. Don’t get me wrong: I live for a head-to-toe black look (topped off by this coat), and my closet is overflowing with navy, but there’s something about a palette of white and ivory mixed with toastier shades of oatmeal and tan that I find especially gorgeous this time of year.
The key to nailing a head-to-toe neutral mix is all in the layering, which starts with having the right mix of items in a wardrobe. The items should not only be the right mix of shades (read: nothing veering too yellow!), but a variety of textures, too – think: cashmere + denim (these cream jeans are the best) + wool. This is where Saks excels. It’s a one-stop shop for all of the above – and more. Their curated assortment and easy-to-apply filters make the shopping feel easy.
Here, a peek at my favorite buys for a perfectly creamy, layered winter look.
