When it comes to gifts, the toughest ones to shop for are almost always the men. They’re tricky. Even after 11.5 years of marriage and many (many!) gifts for my husband later, I still have to put on my thinking cap when gift shopping for him. This year is no different. I’ve done plenty of perusing and still haven’t managed to nail down exactly what I’m buying for my husband (or my Dad, for that matter) this year.

The good news is that all the hours I’ve logged hunting for the perfect gift won’t go to waste. I get to share them here with you. A few quick ideas off the top of my head: if he’s a clotheshorse (or, actually, even if he’s not), opt for elevated essentials – think: a great cashmere sweater, a new fleece, or a layering piece he can wear year-round like this quilted vest. While we’re on the subject of wardrobe, consider gifting him a pair of shoes. Most men will wear the same pair of shoes until they literally. fall. apart. (Am I right?) A new pair of classic loafers might be in order – or, if sneakers are more his thing, track down an elusive style for him (and one for you, too!) at Kicks Crew. 

Looking for gifts that pertain to his hobbies? If game-playing is his forté, gift him with a beautiful poker set. For the chefs, consider upgrading his kitchen essentials with a new set of knives. (Or go big and surprise him with this pizza oven!)  Outdoorsman? Try this, this, or this.
