When it comes to essential knitwear, a cardigan always ranks near the top of my list. The versatility! The wearability! Whether worn as a standalone item (re: like a pullover, buttoned all the way up) or as an added layer to finish off a ‘fit, the best cardigans can always pull a look together.
This season, my closet has seen more cardis than ever – from solids to stripes in every silhouette you can imagine. Below, a hit list of my favorite ones to buy (and wear!) right now.
JENNI KAYNE COOPER CARDIGAN
If I had to name one cardigan as my very favorite, this would be it. (I own it in two colors currently.) It has a structured silhouette that nips in at the waist which gives it so many styling options. My preferred way to wear it is on its own like a pullover, buttoned all the way up. The bell sleeves are the icing on this chic, versatile cake. Hot tip: snag it while it’s on sale right now!

TUCKERNUCK X INDIA HICKS CHELSEA CARDIGAN
I love a cotton cardi just as much as I do a cashmere one. What is so great about a cotton cardi like this one is that it can really be worn year-round. The large gold buttons elevate it, too, giving it a slightly dressy spin.

KHAITE SCARLET CARDIGAN
When it comes to knitwear, Khaite is a queen. The brand makes the most luxurious (investment-worthy!) sweaters with a quality that is equally top-notch. This particular style has been a favorite of mine for the last couple of years. The weight is an ideal in-between (substantial without being too heavy), and the cropped silhouette is perfectly balanced by the elongated sleeves.

TUCKERNUCK RILEY CARDIGAN
It’s the color of this one that sold me. I love this shade of olive green and find that it really works like a neutral, pairing quite well with nearly any other color. I bought this one in the size XS, giving it a more fitted shape so that I can wear it as a standalone top with jeans. (Bonus: you can easily add your monogram to the cuff!)

LA LIGNE MATEO CARDIGAN
With a fitted silhouette and wide sleeves, this cashmere cardi has a feminine flare to it. The color is my favorite part (love this shade of red – especially for the holidays!) along with the fact that it can easily be turned into a set with the matching tank.

KULE RAFFA CARDIGAN
I live for a stripe, and Kule always delivers the best ones. Available in 10 fab colors, this v-neck style looks great over everything but especially so when worn over a stripe (the more, the merrier) button-down shirt.

It doesn’t get much more classic in the knitwear world than a fisherman sweater. I love the longer length of this cardigan. It looks great worn with leggings and super tall riding boots.
