The beginning of a new season is always the perfect time to do a mini refresh of my skincare products. This is especially true during the summer when, thanks to triple-digit temperatures and extra sun exposure, my skin is most prone to a panic attack – read: dry, itchy, and red. While there’s no need for a complete overhaul, a few small tweaks here and there make a big difference.
Repeat after me: less is more. Below, 7 hero products in my current skincare lineup.
LA ROCHE-POSAY FOAMING CLEANSER
First things first! I cleanse my skin morning and night. I tend to switch my cleanser up a lot. I don’t think there is any need to marry a single cleanser. They all do kind of the same thing, right? What I like about this one is the oil-gel combo, making it super gentle but with foam. (With my sensitive skin, I probably should be using a milky cleanser but I just can’t seem to get away from the mindset that foam equals clean.) This one removes the grime from my skin but never leaves it feeling stripped or dry.

GOOP GLOW TONER
I am a big believer in the toner step and, like many skincare gurus, worship Biologique’s P50. During the summer, however, I find it to be just a little too much for my skin – hence the swap for this one. I use it morning and night post-cleanse. It refreshes my skin so that the texture is smooth but without any signs fo redness or drying it out. I’ll probably switch back to P50 in the fall but for now, this one gets the job done.

I never (ever) thought I would be buying into Hailey Bieber’s skincare line but here I am! I love this product so much. It’s my go-to morning and night after I’ve toned my skin. Not only does it feel amazing on my skin, but it also soothes and provides instant hydration. If you try only one product from this list, let this be it.

AUGUSTINUS BADER SERUM
After having numerous reactions from Vitamin C, I have steered clear of the product for the last couple of years. An esthetician recommended I give this one a try, claiming it was gentle. I decided to buy in and so far, so good. It’s only been about a month, but I do think my skin looks brighter ever since I started.

DR. JART+ CICAPAIR COOLING GEL
I bought this on a whim and could not be happier that I did. If you suffer from redness of any kind, you must try this product. It’s like an ice-cold drink of water for my skin and (!) with its jelly texture, it gives my skin this amazing glassy finish. Grail product!

ELTA MD SUNSCREEN UV DAILY
I sound like a broken record at this point when it comes to this sunscreen but it’s just that good. It’s effective, doesn’t cause irritation (read: no weird stinging after application), and leaves no white casting. It’s perfect for any time of day, with or without makeup. I never leave the house without it.

ELTA MD SUNSCREEN AOX MIST
Throwing in a bonus one here! No summer skincare routine is complete without a great SPF for the body and this one, well, it’s the best. Like its aforementioned sister product, it’s gentle, but effective and instant absorbs into the skin, leaving no sign it was ever there. The packaging is also key here because a spray bottle makes application so much easier.
