6 SKINCARE PRODUCTS THAT ARE SAVING MY SKIN FROM WINTER

Lately, I’ve been feeling like my skincare routine is in a bit of a rut.  I can’t quite put my finger on it but I just know it’s time for a little refresh. With that in mind, I’ve been doing a lot more beauty buying across the board. Whether makeup or skincare, finding the best products is always a process of trial and error. It’s a work in progress but, as always, I’ll report back to you on the good stuff.

Below, 6 new-to-me skincare products – from the best makeup remover to a redness-reducing serum that might just be magic in a bottle –  in my current rotation.

TOWER 28 SOS SERUM

If you’ve been following along with me for a while then you’re aware of my ongoing case of rosacea. I wish I could tell you that I found the cure-all but not so much! I have, however, found something that’s the next best thing: Tower 28’s SOS Serum. The texture is unlike anything I have tried before: super lightweight and almost water-like. It dries quickly and just as soon as it does, I can already see my redness-prone skin starting to calm down. I use it every single night now.

DR. LORETTA INTENSE REPLENISHING SERUM

This serum was originally gifted to me. When I ran out of another serum, I decided to substitute with this one only because it was convenient. Now, well, I’m obsessed with it. I have already been through multiple bottles. The serum feels so good on my skin, gliding on like an oil but not at all slick and or sticky. It almost feels matte once it’s on my skin. I use it every morning (after my SOS serum) as my last step before sunscreen. Hot tip: it also makes an amazing makeup primer.

DR. LORETTA RESURFACING ENZYME POLISH

Once I fell in love with the brand’s serum, I decided to test out a few more of their products, including this exfoliator. I had heard good things about it and, after a couple of months of using it multiple times each week, I can attest that the reports true: this exfoliator really is amazing. It’s a scrub which feels super satisfying upon application but, unlike a lot of other scrubs, this one doesn’t irritate my skin in the slightest. I use it in the shower and like to leave it on for a minute while I shave my legs. When I rinse, my face feels super smooth and soft.

DRUNK ELEPHANT MICELLAR WATER

As I mentioned, I’ve been doing a deep dive into my makeup routine which means I have been trying all kinds of products which also means that I’m basically wearing more makeup than ever before. I decided I needed to double up on my nightly cleanse in order to make sure my skin was extra clean before my head hits the pillow. I have been using this micellar water as a pre-cleanse, and I am blown away at how effectively it removes all traces of makeup – and that’s before I have even used my regular cleanser!

RMS BEAUTY OVERNIGHT LIP MASK

This winter has been tougher on my skin than others. I feel like I simply cannot get enough moisture on my face and this is especially true about my lips. The constant reapplications of Aquaphor just weren’t cutting it so I decided to give this a go. It has helped so much. I apply it a few times a week before I go to bed and when I wake up in the morning, my lips are always so much less dry. Overall, my lips just feel better – less chapped and dry. It’s made my lipstick look so much smoother, too!

SHOP

LA ROCHE-POSAY CICAPLAST BAUME B5 CREAM

This is a game-changer! If you are suffering from dry skin right now, this is going to be your Holy Grail. I have been using it at night as my final step before I go to bed and – like magic! – I wake up to a moisturized and soothed complexion. The texture of this is more like a thick balm, which is key for coating the skin and really locking in moisture. I(Hot tip: I think this would also work well to repair skin post-laser or chemical peel.)
