Whether worn on its own or as a last layer over a button-up shirt, a cardigan is one of the most essential items in any wardrobe. The best cardis are versatile, easy to wear, and have the power to quickly pull a look together. To top all of that off, they’re also one of the few items of clothing that can pretty much be worn year-round (the summer cardigan is a thing!).

I live in this style, wearing it more often than not as a top on its own. I also love this one. The longer length is so perfect for wearing with leather leggings. A Khaite cardi is a big investment but the quality speaks for itself. With that said, I have lots of cardigans that I wear equally as often that come with a much more approachable price tag – including this one, this one, this one, and this one. On that same note, I recently ordered this striped cardi from Mango that rings in at under $100. I love that I can wear it like a little jacket. And when I just really want to cozy up at home, this Jenni Kayne one is always my go-to. It’s oversized (tip: size down!) and just super soft.
