Just as fresh supplies (and a new backpack perhaps, too?) signaled the start of a new school year as a kid, so does a new handbag at the beginning of fall. This season, I have a short list of favorites that includes Bottega’s highly-coveted Hop bag (it’s so good) and, my favorite of all, the Park tote from The Row, to name just two.
The handbags I’m loving vary in size, shape, and color, but there’s one thing they all have in common and that’s minimalism. These bags are all straight-forward, no-frills in terms of design and that’s exactly what makes them so chic. Equally as stylish as they are practical, these are about as far from “it bag” as you can get.
The Row never disappoints when it comes to timeless design, and this bag is the perfect example. (I own it in two colors and wouldn’t doubt that there could someday be a third.) It’s so simple but the craftsmanship is impeccable. The way it so perfectly – and comfortably! – hangs over my shoulder even when it’s filled to the brim! If it’s a tote you’re after then this is the one to buy.
Don’t be afraid to embrace color when it comes to handbags – especially when the design itself is minimal. Crafted of buttery leather in a timeless silhouette, this kelly green mini tote will work its way into so many different looks. Green looks good with everything! (Bonus: it’s under $500.)
Known for a minimal, less-is-more approach to design, Toteme items (shoes, dresses, jackets, you name it!) always land on my wish list. This time, it’s their T-Lock bag. Not only do I love the shape (slouchy, but refined), but the size is perfect for day or night. Bonus points for the crossbody strap.
