When it comes to essentials, nothing tops the list quite like a great pair (or six) of denim. Jeans are the ultimate wardrobe workhorse, providing the foundation for endless outfits. The best pairs are the ones you wear over and over again and only get better each time.
While I certainly have my tried-and-true favorites (these and these) the truth is, my denim rotation is an ever-changing lineup. There’s no one single pair that I swear by, and even when I land on a new pair that comes as close to perfect as it gets, that doesn’t mean I’m not still on the hunt for the next best pair (currently eyeing these). The thing about denim is that it all comes down to preference. Looking for a classic boot-cut that you can wear with heels on a night out? You might want to take a look at these. If comfort comes first and for you that means stretch, you’ll probably love these. Or maybe you’re ready to baby-step your way into a wide-leg style?
No matter what your denim preferences are, finding the right pair takes a lot of trial and error. The number of options out there is daunting. While I certainly haven’t tried them all, I’ve tried a good handful of them and, as always, here to share my favorites. Below, a hit list with my favorite pairs of jeans right now.
I think a good crop-flare pair of denim is an essential in any closet. There’s something about this style that seems to freshen up any look. My latest favorite? The “Carly” style from Veronica Beard. They’re super high-rise (a must) and offer a slim fit with a slight (not too much and that’s important) flare at the ankle. I find them to be super flattering and oh-so comfortable.
These Reformation jeans are my idea of a perfect everyday pair. With little to zero stretch, they’re a true straight-leg style that hit just the right spot at my ankle to work with heels or flats. Bonus: with a price tag under $150, they’re a great bang-for-your-buck buy.
Just when I thought I’d tried every single Frame pair in existence, I came across the “Le Jane Crop” and have deemed them my favorite pair of Frame ever. I have them in three different washes – two blues and this white pair. Fitted through the hips and ever so slightly relaxed at the thighs, this is my idea of a casual, throw-on-and-go pair of jeans. They look good with everything.
These are what I like to call a “weekend” jean. Not because I only wear them on weekends – in fact, I wear them every day of the week – but because they have that casual, easy-going vibe that you want from a Saturday. They’re a relaxed jean, with a slightly wider leg that isn’t so wide that it swallows you. My favorite part about these is actually the wash. It’s the perfect (!) blue, with just the right amount of distressing that it looks like a pair you’ve had forever and ever.
