We’re officially headed into summer, and I’m prepping my closet accordingly. Thanks to brands like Cos and Staud (to name only two!) along with a plethora of sales, it’s becoming more apparent than ever that the spring-to-summer switch doesn’t have to break the bank. The trick is to figure out your uniform (read: get the basics right) and work from there.
At the center of my summer uniform is – no surprise here! – dresses. From casual day dresses to night-out minis, I live in one frock to the next. The good news is that there’s plenty of fabulous dresses that ring in well below $300. Currently in my cart(s), you’ll find a mix that includes this cotton-voile kaftan, this vacation-worthy cotton style from Farm Rio, this striped shirt-dress, and this wear-everywhere white number from Staud. All of the aforementioned options work perfectly with the nude version of my favorite Ancient Greek sandals ($275!), which I now have in every single color. Speaking of accessories, there’s plenty of great basket bags like this one from Johanna Ortiz that, too, fall under the $300 threshold.
If dresses aren’t at the crux of your summer wardrobe, not to worry because there’s plenty of white denim (see: here and here) and shirting options like Finley’s puff-sleeve style, this eyelet button-down from J.Crew, or the best simple tank ever from Goldie.
