THE KNITWEAR ESSENTIALS I’M LIVING IN RIGHT NOW

SUNGLASSES //  SIR DRESS // JIMMY CHOO SANDALS // TOTE (SIMILAR OPTIONS HERE AND HERE)

Essentials are the building blocks of a great wardrobe. They’re responsible for laying the foundation and in doing so, simplify the process of getting dressed – and never is that more important than when you’re pregnant. Dressing for two, as I like to say, is no easy task. It’s actually quite tricky, but having a closet of essentials makes it less so. It’s the one trick, sartorially speaking, I have up my sleeve the second time around. Making smart buys in the form of classic pieces (peppered with a few fun accessories!) is what is going to get me through – not to mention, decrease chances of any impulse purchases that I might regret later on. This approach also changes my mindset: rather than feeling limited by the lack of dressing options right now, I’ve found that focusing on basics with an emphasis on neutral colors makes for endless mix-and-match potential

Thankfully, Saks makes this all the easier with their edit of Elevated Essentials. It’s essentially a one-stop shop for the best in basics – think: oversized poplin shirts, cashmere sweaters, the perfect trench coat, and an assortment of wish-list worthy accessories. My biggest buy from the edit has been knitwear. I’m paying attention to proportions this time around and forgoing tent dresses for more fitted silhouettes. I’m living in knit dresses like this one from Sir. I have it in two colors (the white is super chic) and find it to be a perfect summer-to-fall number. When the weather cools down, I’ll alternate between long-sleeve knit dresses  like this one from new-to-me favorite Loulou Studio and  a pair of Khaite’s  knit leggings, which I plan to wear with one of the brand’s divine cashmere cardigans and a pair of flat, equestrian-style boots.
