ANGUILLA

As the designated “travel agent” in my family, I’m tasked with planning all of our family trips. The one thing I know for sure is that finding a spot that checks everyone’s boxes is simply hard to find. That’s what makes Anguilla – and, specifically, the Malliouhana hotel – so very special. It’s the kind of place that I would just as quickly recommend for a honeymoon as I would for a family of five. Read on for all the things that make this little island a must visit.

Malliouhana
This hotel is magical. Set on a hilltop surrounded by the clearest water I have ever seen, Malliouhana (“Malli” as the locals like to call it), feels like your own little private paradise. It has the casual, laid-back vibe that I love about Harbour Island but without the island-time service (if you know, you know). The rooms are gorgeous and the staff goes above and beyond to meet your needs. The resort is kid-friendly but that doesn’t take center-stage so it’s also ideal for a romantic getaway. Check, check.

Celeste
Located at Malliouhana, this restaurant has a laid-back elegance that I love. The menu features classic island-cuisine with a fresh spin. Be sure to order the ceviche and calamari to start and the snapper for your entrée.

Blanchard’s Beach Shack
This is exactly what it sounds like: a beach shack. Located steps from Malliouhana, this is the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch. Order the fresh fish tacos, chips and guac, and a glass of rosé. If you have a hankering for something sweet, be sure to order one of their famous milkshakes to go.

Pimms
With an open-air and waterside setting, Pimms has all the elements of a romantic restaurant. The menu features elevated Anguillan and Caribbean fare along. While fish is the obvious choice here, I also recommend the Jerk Chicken.

Bar Soleil for Happy Hour
The chicest little bar is located at Malliouhana. With vaulted ceilings and built-in divans, it’s the ideal spot to enjoy a cozy cocktail. Order one of the specialty rum cocktails or have the bartender whip up a drink customized to your tastes. Hot tip: You can enjoy dinner at bar! Just ask the bartender for a Celeste menu and they’ll make it happen.
