I’ve said it before: I am a dress girl. I buy and own way more dresses than I do separates. I find dresses to be very much a one-and-done (read: easy!) approach to getting dressed. I’m all about ease these days (summer!) which means having an assortment a simple, throw-on-and-go dresses is a must for me.
The best “day” dresses for me are the ones that I can wear straight into the night, too. I prefer longer hemlines to minis and, with the temperature rising and hot-hot-hot days ahead, I stick to lightweight fabrics like cotton and linen. This Staud dress I just bought is a perfect example of a dress that checks all the boxes. It’s cotton (lightweight but not see-through!), the length is ideal, and it can easily be dressed up for cocktail hour. (Staud truly has so many dresses that fit this bill – see: here, here, and here.) Another one I love is this puff-sleeve number from Ciao Lucia. (Note: it’s also available in this punchy blue color!) It looks chic with a pair of simple slides during the day and with a quick switch to a pair of espadrilles, transitions straight into dinnertime. I’m also eyeing a number of styles from new favorite brand Matteau. This entire collection down to their swimsuits (just ordered this one) is the epitome of laid-back chic.
Below, a shopping list with an assortment of styles – from floral frocks to simple shirt dresses – for your perusal.
